APACHE CORPORATION DONATES CNG VEHICLES TO TULSA TRANSIT LIFT PROGRAM

TULSA, Okla. (Dec. 20, 2011) – The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority announced Tuesday it has received a donation of two new paratransit vans powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) from Apache Corporation.

The MV-1 vans are the first factory-built and assembled vehicles that meet or exceed the vehicle guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The vehicles are powered by compressed natural gas, which costs less than gasoline and produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
Tulsa Transit plans to use the new wheelchair-accessible vans as part of its door-to-door Lift Program for disabled individuals.
In announcing its donation, Apache praised Tulsa Transit for its commitment to clean, alternative fuels such as CNG. Based in Tulsa, Apache’s Central Region covers the Anadarko Basin of Western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.
“As part of this community, Apache is always ready to help out worthy programs such as Tulsa Transit’s Lift Program,” said Central Region Vice President Rob Johnston. “And as a strong supporter of compressed natural gas as an alternative fuel, the donation of the two CNG-powered vans was especially gratifying.”
Apache presented the CNG-powered vans at Tulsa Transit’s board meeting Tuesday. Among the state and local dignitaries who attended the event were Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett, Chris Benge, Tulsa Metro Chamber, members of the Tulsa Transit Board of Directors and representatives of Apache’s Central Region Office.
The donated vans were decorated in vivid graphic designs depicting the ecologically friendly nature of compressed natural gas by graphic arts students at Tulsa Technology Center. Sign It, a local sign company based in Sand Springs, offered its facility for the vehicle “wraps” and oversaw the students’ work.
